What is Trauma?

Trauma is a natural human response to adversity. It's your brain's and body's way of making sure you survive something that was terrifying, horrifying, or disgusting--and trying to keep you stay safe from now on.  Sometimes, the natural recovery process gets stuck, and we need some help to heal.

Is Something Wrong with Me?

Nope. Nothing is wrong with you. Think of trauma more like an injury--like a broken bone that just needs to be set properly so you can heal.  We provide general counseling for a variety of issues, but we have specialized training in trauma treatments that are backed by research evidence. During your first appointments, we'll determine the plan for your therapy.  Some approaches emphasize talking, while others have very little talking. Some use creative elements and story, while others work directly to treat your brain.

Our Goal.

Our Therapists want to help you find healing. Trauma and grief can disrupt your daily functioning, your ability to feel emotions, and your relationships with others. Let's reconnect your mind, body, and emotions so that the real you can live in the real world without fear or anxiety.

We've worked with children, teens, and adults. They've been survivors of physical abuse, sexual abuse, assault, cancer, accidents, addiction, loss, and everyday stress. They are moms, dads, foster kids, veterans, law enforcement, first responders, therapists, clergy, and everything in between.
